Lithuania ranks 8th in the world among top countries for remote work, according to an index compiled by NordLayer (formerly NordVPN Teams), part of Nord Security, a Lithuanian-founded cyber security company.
Last year, Lithuania came in 5th. This year, Lithuania scored 0.808 (out of the maximum score of 1), the company said.
“While some of the big tech companies have recently brought their employees back to the office or introduced a hybrid working model, remote work is still inevitable. It’s not just a trend, it’s a factor that allows employees to be more productive and have a better work-life balance,” Donatas Tamelis, CEO of NordLayer, said in a statement.
This year, Denmark (0.847), the Netherlands (0.843), and Germany (0.842) topped the list. Latvia ranked 31st (0.766), and Estonia came in 7th (0.818).
Compiled for the first time last year, the index ranked the best and worst countries for remote work in four categories: cyber safety, economic safety, social safety, as well as digital and physical infrastructure.
